Nameplate + Stationery Set

The concept of this design is branding for ourselves and our personality. I decided to go for an old English and clean look. The colors are minimal, only using black and white.

Sketches

Phase 1

The first phase of this project is dedicated to making sketches and exploring styles that represent our personality for branding. I made many variations with my first name, last name, and just my initials. The direction I was leaning toward was my initials since my full name is long.

Phase 2

I ended up going for an Old English typeface for the second phase and exploring different black lettering styles for my logo. My final logo choice is organic but still legible at the same time and gives a more hand-crafted look.

The second phase was to add a type of design to our stationery to give more insight into my personality. I decided to still go with a black lettering style typeface to create a calligraphy calligram for a hypnotizing effect. I got inspiration from Arabic calligrams and decided to substitute the Arabic lettering for English lettering in the black letter style. The concept I went for is to write my first and last name in Old English and position the letters to flow in a circle layout. To position the letters perfectly I used a circle template to make sure all the letters were aligned perfectly for the circle. The inner calligram is smaller and gets bigger as you zoom out.

Back Side Info

Typeface

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Europhonic

Colors

#FFFFFF

#000000

For my business card, I decided to have the calligram design with two color choices. The first choice was a black background and white lettering or a black background with white and gold lettering. My final choice was black and white for a minimal look for the front and the back has my information along with my logo. I chose the typeface called Europhonic and it's a tall sans-serif with sharp corners to complement my logo.

Envelope

Back Side

For my envelope, I decided to overlap the calligrams on the top right and bottom left corners to balance the composition. The position of the calligrams creates balance for where the important information goes for mailing an envelope. Additionally, the back side of the envelope has the calligram in full size except for the flap.

Back

For my letterhead, I did the same layout as the envelope but it’s on the corners of the letterhead and it bleeds out. The top left has my logo and contact information.
